GRIZZLY BEAR SAFARI
in KNIGHT INLET

Over our many years of viewing our bears and other animals we have found that small groups - less than 5 guests - provide the ideal viewing situation. Because of our size our "footprint" is much less and the animals behave in a relaxed manner and are a lot less likely to become disturbed.

Another big plus for small group safari viewing is the impact the animals have on you when they are close. There is no comparison between viewing bears and whales from large crowded boats and viewing them from your own small boat. This is much like the safari wildlife viewing in Africa - small groups that are accepted by the wild animals.

In our earlier season viewing of the grizzly bears at the Glendale River in Knight Inlet we remain in small group safari mode. Later in the season, from the viewing stands, because of Government regulation and leases, we view as a group of 12, spread over two stands. After the stands we are back in our individual safari boats ready to explore the shores of the inlet for more wildlife. On our orca day we remain as safari. When an orca decides to swim directly under your boat he is only inches away. Finally, if you are on our longer trip, you will be travelling to our wild river and viewing the bears also in your safari

group.

We have carried the safari, small group idea over to our lodge where we seldom accommodate more than 10 guests at one time. We have kept the lodge small as many of our guests have warned us that when they were at lodges that took more than 20 guests their itinerary and activities were very rigid and that they seldom had a chance to make friends with their fellow guests. Many of our guests still keep in touch and exchange pictures with friends they've met on our safari, even after many years.

Finally, we are proud to provide this unique safari trip. Not only do you get to view as many bears and other animals as possible, but you also get to see a great deal of breathtaking scenery. In our safari trips we cover most of Knight Inlet and the southern section of the Great Bear Rainforest.

Grizzly Bear Safari

Grizzly Bear Safari is one of the few premier Grizzly Bear Viewing, Grizzly Bear Watching, and Orca Watcing Safari Safaris in North America. One can expect to get very close and almost personal with Grizzlies, Sea Lions, Seals, Humpback Whales, Orcas, Eagles and Black Bears, all from safe viewing situations. The lodge is located on British Columbia's mainland coast, northeast of Campbell River BC and is part of the Great Bear Rainforest.

Five features and benefits make Grizzly Bear Safari And Safari unique and worthy of your consideration.

  1. Grizzly Bear Safari is located in the middle of BC's Rainforest Coast on Knight Inlet, Canada's longest fjord. The scenery is spectacular and so is the grizzly bear viewing.
  2. Grizzly Bear Safari is small and intimate, assuring personal service and attention to your needs and expectations. We only accommodate ten guests at a time.
  3. Grizzly Bear Safari is very remote so access is by seaplane only.
  4. The remote environment, climate, the spawning rivers that flow into Knight Inlet and the natural protection provided by the mountains, forest and the Knight Inlet Fjord, cause the area to attract and concentrate the most diverse and abundant wildlife available in North America.
  5. After a day of exciting and rewarding grizzly bear viewing, we serve gourmet dinners to our guests.

News Report
Grizzly Bear Safari 2010 News Report: Our river valley grizzly bear count remained in the high 40's. On one trip we saw 24 different bears although our average was closer to 7 or 8. The orca were a week late but then were often spectacular as were the humpback and dolphins. We're really looking forward to 2010 - more grizzlies as they build up in our wild river and lots of whales. Our whales are the healthiest in the western Pacific.
